I was walking to a late lunch today, having decided to enjoy the post-rain sun and warm weather to try out the back patio of Mojave. Mojave is a new-ish Mexican fusion restaurant in Astoria. I see it almost daily, and have waited until my last few days in NYC to finally try it. I get a Starbucks along the way, and see the New York Times–and I think, I haven’t read a real paper in ages. My next thought is that me sitting on said patio with said paper and a bloody Mary is going to be my photo for today-and then I instantly realize that’s too cliche. UNTIL… The moment comes an I realize the guy’s shirt in front of me. Perfection.
Had brunch at Taboon with Shahnaz, talked a lot about my move, the future and the past. It’s a reoccurring them as of late. I guess planning and making big changes for your future should remind you of your past… of how far you’ve come and how you got where you are. It has me realizing I’m on the verge of the next big chapter in my life and each action taken now is part of my path. Like when I moved to NYC 12 years ago, or Baltimore a year before that, or wrote that first letter to the editor that basically launched my career, or a million other things that at the time seemed small and insignificant. Those decisions all got me here today. And so with that, I share this picture… Taboon is an upscale but homely, mediterranean fusion. Often has live jazz. It reminds me of the type of home I want to build.
I made this video 6 months ago in response to the LGBT teen suicides that became a weekly news occurrence. Sadly, such suicides are not uncommon or irregular and the vast majority we never hear about in the news. It’s important that all young people understand that they are normal and that difference is normal.
Those who follow me on Twitter, or for whom I’ve helped implement NetCommunity websites, won’t be surprised to find me write about Google Analytics. Probably no better an indication of my love for the knowledge waiting to be unmasked within this tool, is the (fun?) fact that I can often be found laying in bed at 6am and digging through client web reports. The knowledge one can gleam from this tool is practically endless–and the resulting testing and site modifications one can make, even more so. No wonder than, I am commonly asked; “What are the top web analytics reports and tools every nonprofit should know?”.
Still getting setup here with a new site, mostly linking together the various places around the web I can be found. I can most often be found on Twitter as @ChrisTuttle (for friends, acquaintances and friendly folks) and Facebook (for friends only, please).
