It’s Dead with a ‘D’ not bed with an ‘B’ December 13, 2007

This is so horrible, so be warned.

Liza Minnelli

Liza Minnelli collapsed on stage last night in Sweden–half way thru her 8-song set–and had to be rushed to her hotel and is now headed back to the US for treatment. But, of course, the show must go on! SO, except for 1 cancellation this weekend, she’ll be continuing her tour on January 12th in Providence, RI. Ohh, Liza, how we adore you.

I can’t help but wonder, will Liza Minnelli die on stage performing? Honestly, I think she might like it that way. In my recent haste to see all things nearing their end–Bea Arthur, Angela Lansbury, Britney Spears‘ career–I realized I simply *must* see Liza! I’ve seen her before, hanging out at Birdland, where Joe was actually one of the guest performers right before her (half-shut) eyes. But seriously, to see her perform. She’s a legend, a must see. What kind of queer would I be if I couldn’t say 50 years from now, “I remember when…”

So I was reviewing her tour dates and–OH MY GOD–she’s performing at in Lake Tahoe the same exact weekend I’ll be there for my family Ski Trip! Hmmm… “Dad, can we go see…”

Have you seen Liza?  Care to?  Think she’ll die on stage?

I hope she dies on stage while you’re watching!!! Would that be fabulous?!

I’ve seen Liza’s show. The woman was gimpy from a hip injury and her voice sounded like she’d swallowed a cheese grater. But she was so enthusiastic and joyous that the entire room was transfixed for the full duration of her show. Go see her. She’s awesome.

Change your question for dad to a statement:

“Dad, we’re going to see Liza. Here’s your ticket.”
