Hey folks! I know, I know… another long time between posts. I have SOO much to write about and yet no time to do it. Must. Figure. Out.

But, I had to pop my head in here and let you all know that I’ll be guest-DJing tomorrow night for the dear Miss Greta Green at Drag Queen Puppet Bingo!!! If you’re in NYC you simply must stop by! In addition to my checkered DJ’ing past, tomorrow night we will be presenting a bunch of fun, including: James’ Birthday Party, Greta Green’s Brand Spankin’ New DQPB Opening Video and a full display of Greta-face!

You see, when I was 16 or 17 years old I started a unique job… as a DJ for a roller skating rink. Yes, really. And I loved it almost as much as I hated it. You see, as I roller rink DJ I learned a very important lesson; you can’t please everyone. If I played dance music I’d have a group of kids yelling at me to play more hip-hop. If I played hip-hop, someone else would want country. And so on, and so on.

Considering the chaos of trying to appease 200 kids musical tastes, more often then not I’d play whatever the hell I wanted. Chances were that most of the requested songs would come up sooner or later anyhow. My most favorite times, however, were when I’d find some odd record (yup, we weren’t switched to CDs yet) and I’d mix it with another song or back beat. Once I found a box of children’s records, leftover from the daytime sessions, and thought I’d have some fun. It didn’t take long before the Sesame Street characters were singing “2 + 2 + 2 + 2 is 4″ and other fun things I’d throw together. Another favorite was my “Teach Your Parrot to Speak” record. I can only imagine what those kids thought of me. Yes, I was a dork.

So now here I am, 14 years later about to DJ for Drag Queen Puppet Bingo. Fortunately for you, there’s really not a lot of DJing cause Greta’s too busy talking and screaming. Unfortunately for you, there’s no skating.
