Evil Woman… Bam Bam Bam August 3, 2007
Posted by *christuttle* in : tuttle says... , trackbackWent to see Xanadu again last night for the-gulp-third time. I love it! Even in planning to go this third time I said “OK, I’ll go a 3rd time, but then that’s it. Unless there’s a special occasion.” So as soon as the show was over last night, Sandra (who was seeing it her 2nd time) turns and says “oh we have to do this again!” Of course, I had to agree.
It’s just so much fun. And there’s a name for folks like us… we’re Fanadus. If you haven’t gone yet, you simply must. It’s the best show. So much fun, and SOO very funny. The actors are all terrific, each for various reasons and the script is genius. The last two times we’ve sat on stage and having seen the show from the audience the first time, I think I’ll continue to sit on stage for all future shows. I strongly suggest folks see it from the audience first though. But once you’ve seen it from the audience, you know what’s going to happen so you can then enjoy the stage experience which is like Xanadu and a half. Meaning: there’s a whole “back side” show that the audience never sees! It’s often very subtle and at times caused us to burst out laughing at moments the entire audience was not. And I loved that.
Another fun part of last night was that there were 15 of us. Yes, 15. Lisa had this terrific idea of organizing a larger group to go. And though the seating arrangements–and someone forgetting their ticket–caused momentary havoc (more for some then others) it worked out very well in the end. We all had terrific seats and I think everyone had a terrific time. Having seen the show on stage already, I had specific ideas about where I wanted to sit before hand. While that seemed to upset some in our group, I think it worked out in the end. But, what we’ve learned from this whole experience is that there is no on stage seating chart available online!?!?! I know!?!!?! As such, I’ve decided to create the first.
Unfortunately, or fortunately, I don’t work for Xanadu, or the Helen Hayes Theater, and therefore have no actual way of knowing what the seating chart looks like other than by my first hand viewing experience. Unfortunately that’s even hard, though, because the “seat numbers” don’t match the “maximum capacity” for each row. This is due to the fact that the seating is bench-like and because there are certain seats reserved for performers. But, with that in mind, here’s the design as best I can muster. I think the seating is pretty accurate, although some rows can fit 1 more or 1 less, depending on the people. Also, while the seating is accurate, I’m don’t think I have the stage proportions correct, but what’s a boy to do. Let me know if something is incorrect and I’ll update it!

This seating chart still cracks me the fuck up!
OH . . . MY . . . GOD!!
Okay, first of all, I’m so sorry I wasn’t able to go with you guys. I hate when working in theater means you can’t actually GO to theater.
But SECONDLY that damn seating chart is fucking OFF THE HOOK (insert hand gesture)! You, Mr. Tuttle, are no longer allowed to ridicule either James for his Excel spreadsheets or me for my DVD pricing chart. That shit is SICK (both in the “bad-ass” and “in need of professional attention” way)!
