Posted by *christuttle* in : seen and scene , trackbackSo this morning I turn on the news and the anchors are arguing over whether Sanjaya is going to get canned tonight on Idol. What the fuck? Wasn’t he kicked off last week’s show?
Each week Chris Church, Lisa Spodak, Terry and I go to Posh 405 (yes, that is it’s real name for you other regs) in Hells Kitchen and watch American Idol–and a rotating cast of other friends join from time to time too. Now don’t get me wrong, I generally hate American Idol and haven’t watched a season since the first one… until now. But if you too have been an Idol-hater like I was, I implore you to get 30 gays, a bunch of booze and a couple Lisa’s in a room and I promise you’ll have the time of your life. Ps… Helps if you can go see Edie at Vlada afterwards too, but that might be a tad harder to arrange.
Anyway, so last week Sanjaya was in the bottom three. The crowd cheers. He was then in the bottom two. Ohh how jolly the cheers became. Terry and I then made a bet: I said Sanjaya was out, he said he’d remain. We were both adamant and the loser was to buy the other a drink. Minutes later Ryan speaks, Sanjaya looks sad and the crowd cheers… we could only assume Sanjaya was kicked off. Terry was in disbelief and I was one drink richer.
Or so I thought. Thinking back, I don’t recall being able to hear exactly what Ryan said… the crowd was a bit loud. I’m just in shock that we spent a week thinking one thing when really it was another.
I’m also now confused about our friendly Posh-crowd. Have I unknowingly been amongst a group of 30-odd queer Sanjaya lovers? Or were they too misguided about the shows outcome? I will be taking a poll tonight.
As for Terry, I now owe you two drinks. One for the one you bought me and one for the true winner of our bet. Oh wait, gambling is illegal in NYC.

As I recall it, the cheering abated when it was announced that Brandon was off. Spodie was most especially upset, as she apparently liked Brandon (wtf?). For now, we just have to pray that Sanjaya goes home tonight . . . although I’m afraid he’s going to stay awhile longer. Blech.
I *did* like Brandon.
I guess I thought both of them had gotten booted. Wishful thinking? 
*sigh*
So, by now we have cleared everything up, right? The bet was whether Sanjaya or Hayley were going into the bottom three. I bet Hayley, you bet Sanjaya. You won. I bought your drink.
But thanks for the pizza last night, anyway!
What was with that girl!!!!!? She looked like she was ready to collapse!
*argh* i’m missing out on American Idol… Who? When? Where? What has happened since I left???? Quick… in 25 words or less… i thought Church and I were for Sanjaya during the prelims??? I’ve lost the plot… i’m so confused… can someone bring me back to New York!!!
