40 Bloggers Walk Into a Gay Bar… February 26, 2007
Posted by *christuttle* in : tuttle says... , trackbackAnd another, and another, and another, etc. Saturday night was the 2nd Annual NYC Gay Bloggers Bar Crawl, or the Blarg Hop as organizer Joe.My.God calls it. From 9pm till 4am, the hope stopped by 6 of the East Village’s best queer bars… and dirtiest, in the good sense of the word.
I was very nervous about going as I hadn’t met any of them before, but then I released Richard (previously from PAYOR) was attending. We spent much time catching up during the first couple bars and later on I got to meet a good number of folks who I’ve read or read about, online.
After Phoenix, Richard and I had plans to meet up with Joe, so we side-stepped over to the new opening of RIDE @ Rebel–a new party by Spin Cycle. It was so “I’m 21 years old and just moved here and I’m the hottest thing you’ve ever seen which is why I’m going to be famous and become best friends with Brittany Spears and when she has hair again we’ll braid each others because I’m cool and sexy like that. now pose.” that I almost puked. But, none-the-less, it’s a great space and overall a great crowd–plus uber packed. This will surely be the new “it spot” to go to.
Preferring men to boys I decided to catch back up with the Blarg Hop at the Boiler Room. Unfortunately Richard and Joe were done with the evening and each decided to head home. Good news was that I now had a few drinks in me and was much more relaxed about meeting more of the bloggers… and that I did, some more briefly then others. Hardest part for me was, and is, remembering whose name matches which website, as so many don’t have pictures or names easily posted. But of those I can find and/or remember meeting (meaning wasn’t too drunk yet to remember) included the lovely host Joe.My.God, the Farmboyz, Velleity NYC, Glennalicious and re-meet Helen Damnation, who I haven’t seen in a couple years. There were many others too, but I can’t either a) find their blog or b) remember their name. Oops.

LOL, I don’t remember much from that point in the night. Although, that particular moment does happen to stand out.
Um, why was I making that face? I must have had a good reason, but I wish I’d known about Debbie Reynold’s advice for the camera: think surprised.

Nowhere Bar actually is cute. The RUNT party is held there (a party for short gay men) b/c the ceilings are so low. Fucking hilarious.
